Lairai Jatra Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog! Here you'll know about Lairai jatra.  The village of Shirgao already bears a palpable air of festivity. On the same day, Mapusa will celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Milagres As per ancient Goan lore, Our Lady of Milagres is one of the seven sisters of the goddess Lairai. Belief has it that all the sisters come to Shirgao jatra to witness the 'agnidivya' ritual of goddess Lairai. The two festivals are symbolic of Goa's communal harmony, as a large number of Hindu devotees throng to the Mapusa church to pay their respects to the Milagres 'saibin' every year while Christian devotees pay their respect to goddess Lairai.I n Shirgao, preparations are afoot at a brisk pace for the annual jatra. Devotees who will not be able to make it to the jatra have already begun visiting the temple of goddess Lairai to pay obeisance to the holy 'kalash' as they seek fulfilment of their vows.
